Participants will learn the ins-and-outs of DIY silkscreening. With the guidance of professional artist Sean-William Dawson, students will create there own logo and then reproduce it through the artistic repetitive medium of silkscreening.
Over the last quarter of a century Dawson has maintained a consistent and engaging practice mining the richness of pop culture and experimenting with a wide range of media from drawings and prints to paintings and cast relief reproductions. As a result of working outside of the traditional commercial and public art gallery system Dawson has established himself as an inventive art educator. He is a firm believer that in his role as an arts instructor, the process of creating is vastly more important than the final product. It is from this alternative “punk” spirit from which this exhibition concept is born.
