The Village of Windermere

Home of Muskoka Chautauqua’s summer festival.

In 1921, Chautauqua landed on the shores of Windermere for its inaugural summer season in Muskoka. For the past few years we have been so pleased to again call Windermere Village the home of our summer festival. The Village of Windermere has embraced our festival with open arms, and we have developed and grown wonderful relationships with many community partners.

The Windermere Gazette

Following a recent community conversation event, the Windermere Gazette has been revived with the goal of bringing residents together and sharing news about what’s happening in the village. This cherished community newspaper, led by editors and local residents Bev Longhurst, Karen Lang, and Susan Kinsella, has already published issues from Spring to Fall of 2024 and plans to continue throughout 2025.

The Gazette serves as a vital resource for updates, stories, and events that matter most to Windermere residents. Whether highlighting local initiatives, featuring community voices, or celebrating village milestones, the paper is dedicated to fostering a sense of connection and engagement among neighbors.

Stay tuned for upcoming issues and more ways to get involved in this exciting revival of Windermere’s community news!
